Inside of Eagle Pharmacy

Eagle Pharmacy is a historic site of great significance, frequently visited by international tourist, located in the heart of Podgórze, Kraków, where the former Jewish Ghetto was situated during World War II.

Eagle Pharmacy was the only pharmacy operating within the Kraków Ghetto during WWII, owned and managed by Tadeusz Pankiewicz - the only non-Jewish person allowed to stay and do business within Kraków Ghetto.

During WWII it was an important meeting place for Jewish intellectuals, scientists, and artists while providing aid to ghetto residents that was normally not allowed by the Germans during the occupation of Kraków.

Eagle Pharmacy's staff assisted in smuggling food and information between the ghetto and the outside world helping numerous Jewish families during the grim war times.

Currently Eagle Pharmacy operates as history museum and is managed by the Muzeum Krakowa cultural institution. It's situated in Plac Bohaterów Getta 18, Kraków and it organises group workshops and educational activities on topics like German anti-Semitism, ghetto life, and the impact of WWII on Polish culture.

The Eagle Pharmacy museum is open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 - 17:00 (last entry at 16:30) and admission is free on Tuesdays and paid on other days. For current admission fee information and reservations please call +48 12 656-56-25 or email the museum at apteka@muzeumkrakowa.pl
