Center for Jewish Culture (Centrum Kultury Żydowskiej) on Meiselsa street is located right next to the famous Plac Nowy in Kraków.
The centre is housed in a renovated building of former synagogue Bne Emuna which was abandoned during World War II and it was later repurposed as a carpentry workshop and warehouse.
The main purpose of the Center for Jewish Culture is to preserve the rich Jewish heritage of Kazimierz, maintain the influence of Polish Jewry on Polish society, and promote education about the Jewish community in Poland. It attracts visitors from Poland and around the globe, playing a vital role in the cultural landscape of Kraków.
The centre also promotes values of an open society without borders, encouraging respect, understanding and openness towards other races and cultures.
In the centre there is a small bookshop, a café and an art gallery spanning across all 3 stories of the building where you can see exhibits and posters from many cultural events organised by the centre in the past.
The Centre for Jewish Culture hosts a wide array of art and cultural events throughout the year, including exhibitions, lectures, concerts, author meetings, book promotions, film screenings, conferences, and seminars.
The events are organised frequently so make sure to check out the centre's website for the current schedule and updates.
The centre is conveniently located in the heart of Kazimierz near numerous restaurants, pubs, bars and cafes so visitors can easily enjoy a meal or a drink before or after exploring the cultural offerings of the centre.
