This footbridge which was named after Father Laetus Bernatek a local monk, who contributed to the construction of the Bonifratrów Hospital in Kraków in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has been constructed in form of a steel arch with walkways/cycleways length of about 130 metres.
The Father Bernatek Footbridge is of great cultural significance because it vastly contributed to the revitalising of Kazimierz and Podgórze districts of Kraków, reinstating the link between these neighbourhoods and boosting the cultural, social, and tourist activity on both sides of the Vistula river.
Father Bernatek Footbridge features balancing sculptures from the series "Between Heaven and Earth" that are famous hanging sculptures by the renowned sculptor Jerzy Kędziora attached to the bridge arch making it especially popular among couples who meet here for romantic dates.
